6 Exterior caravan cleaning Tips

1. You may need to pre spray with a Caravan Black Streak Remover Product.  You will need a soft brush, to avoid scratching the caravan.

2. Make sue that you use a quality ladder.  see our article to find the best caravan washing ladders .

3. Dip the brush in soapy water and start scrubbing the caravan from top to bottom.

4. Be sure to rinse the brush frequently to avoid re-depositing dirt on the caravan.

5. Pay special attention to areas that are prone to dirt and grime, such as around the roof lights, caravan air conditioning units on the roof, around the wheels and in between the front windows.

6. Once you have finished scrubbing, rinse the caravan with clean water to remove any soap residue.

7. Dry the caravan with a microfibre or let it air dry in the shade.

Can You Clean an Awing with A Brush

Cleaning the awning of your caravan is an important part of maintaining it. A dirty or stained awning can quickly ruin the appearance of your caravan and make it less welcoming.

Fortunately, cleaning an awning is a relatively easy task that can be done with just a few simple tools. All you need is a soft brush, some soapy water, and a little bit of elbow grease.

It is a job best done when the awning is attached to the caravan so I would recommend doing this whilst at the caravan site, but not just before you are about to pack it away as it needs time to dry.

Best Sponge to Clean your Caravan or Motorhome

When it comes to choosing a sponge to wash your caravan or motorhome, there are many important considerations to keep in mind. Firstly, it is important to select a sponge that is designed for use on vehicles and specifically for the type of material used for the bodywork of your particular model. For instance, if you own an aluminium-bodied caravan you will need a softer sponge than one suited to a plastic-bodied vehicle.

Another important point is that the sponge you choose should be non-abrasive, as this will help to ensure that the bodywork of your caravan or motorhome remains in pristine condition. A good sponge for washing cars and caravans should also have a good amount of absorbent material to help it lift dirt more effectively.

Triplewax CTA003 Jumbo Sponge (AC26)
  • Large surface area cleans effectively and in less time
  • Will not scratch or damage the surface
  • Flexible material ensures no dirt is left behind
  • Triplewax Jumbo Sponge is super absorbent and removes dirt and grime from paintwork, glass, trims, wheels and tyres.
  • The jumbo surface area means you get effective cleaning with minimum effort, in less time, and the super soft surface will not scratch or damage the surface underneath.

Finally, you will want to select a sponge that is easy to grip and handle. This can be particularly important when trying to reach difficult areas around the windows and doorframes. Look for sponges with ergonomic shapes, such as those with handles or textured. You should also consider the size of your sponge as smaller sponges will take longer to wash your caravan.

Caravan cleaning products

I wont go to deep into caravan cleaning products here as I have already written an article on the subject that you may want to check out later.

Conclusion

In Conclusion remember:

Choose a brush with a good size head and long soft bristles. A handle that is short enough to work with but long enough to reach your bucket when on a ladder. If you are using a sponge, get a big one that easy to hold and not too abrasive.
