What Is A Fully Serviced Pitch

Note that facilities provided with each caravan pitch may vary by site, so check before booking. Types of pitches include:

  • Rally Pitch: Basic pitch with no electric, water, or waste connections, often used by groups.
  • Grass Pitch with Electric: Offers electric hook-ups but no water or waste connections for your caravan or motorhome but good for traditional camping.
  • Hard Standing with Electric: Also known a a standard pitch, popular choice with concrete pad or gravel for stability, electric hook-up but no water or waste connections.
  • Hard Standing with Water: Provides own tap for water supply, communal facilities for waste disposal and showering.
  • Fully Serviced Pitch: Most comprehensive option, includes hard standing surface, own tap, waste water drain, electric supply, and sometimes TV connection. a fuloy serviced pitch provides ultimate convenience and comfort for you caravan or motorhome, but is more expensive.

Why Would You Pay More For a fully serviced pitch

In my personal opinion fully serviced pitches are worth the extra fee for longer stays, using your own water supply caravan shower, disliking shared shower facilities in the shower block or having mobility issues.

A fully serviced pitch can provide greater comfort and convenience with your own tap, waste water drain and electric supply.

Yet, for a single night stopover or short weekend break, a basic grass pitch with electric or hard standing with awning and electric may be more cost-effective.

Options For Fresh Water Supply

Aquaroll With Float

Using a shared water tap on a caravan site can require queuing and carrying water containers back and forth, while having your own water tap on your pitch offers convenient access to fresh water too.

You can use the tap connections a food grade hose or float kit to access water on your pitch.

Ensure the drinking water hose is secure. If you choose to connect it directly to the mains water or tap via a food grade hose, or use a float kit in your aquaroll for automatic refilling via the float valve.

Pros and Con s of connecting water direct into your caravan

Connecting water directly into the side port on your caravan or motorhome using a direct connection kit can be a convenient option for many campers, but it also has its pros and cons to consider.

Pros:

  • You don’t need to take your bulky aquaroll with you when you travel, which can save space and make packing easier.
  • You don’t have to worry about the hygiene aspect of bugs or other contaminants getting into your aquaroll, which can be a concern for some campers.
  • Using a mains water connection kit can give a constant supply of water without having to worry about refilling or changing your water container.

Cons:

  • A problem with the kit could cause major damage to your caravan if mains pressure was to ingress into your caravan. This is a risk that needs to be carefully considered before deciding to connect water directly to your caravan.
  • You may find that your hose is too short and you have no backup. This can be a problem if you need to move your caravan or if your water source is located far away from your pitch.

Pros and Cons of Using an Aquaroll Float kit

Using an Aquaroll float kit can also have its pros and cons for campers to consider.

Pros:

  • The float kit is very reliable, with no danger of damage from failed parts. This makes it a safe and easy option for caravan or motorhomes to connect to the mains tap.
  • If you arrive at your pitch and find that there is no tap available, you can still revert to filling up your Aquaroll in the normal way at the communal tap.
  • The float kit provides a constant supply of water to your caravan, ensuring that you never run out of water during your stay.

Cons:

  • The Aquaroll doesn’t roll with the kit fitted, so if you need to use it in the normal way, you will need a spare filling cap with you. This can be inconvenient if you need to move your Aquaroll around your pitch.
    • Aquaroll Will Not Roll
  • The kit can be tricky to fit, and if you get the float up the wrong way, it won’t fill. This means that you may need to spend some time figuring out how to properly install the float kit before using it.
  • Float can be tricky to line up – Use tape to mark

It’s important to note that using an Aquaroll float valve kit or kit requires some maintenance and care to ensure that it works properly.

You will need to periodically clean and sanitise your Aquaroll float valve and the float kit to prevent any build-up of bacteria or other contaminants.

How Is Wastewater Dealt With On A Fully Serviced Pitch?

Wate water connected to caravan on fully serviced pitch

A fully serviced pitch has a separate grey water drain connected directly to your caravan.

This is convenient as wastewater flows directly into the drain using a drain adapter or grey water hose, but remember you will need a fairly good length.

waste water connected to drain on fully serviced pitch

There’s no need to empty a waste container, unlike other pitches which I love!.

However, you should avoid harmful chemicals or materials and regularly check and clean the grey water drain to prevent blockages and environmental damage.

What About TV Connection On A Fully Serviced Caravan Pitch

One additional feature that some fully serviced caravan pitches may offer is a TV aerial connection or satellite TV connection.

Having access to TV on your pitch can be a great way to stay connected to the outside world, especially if you’re on a site with poor TV signal.

With a TV aerial connection or satellite TV connection, you can easily access all of the available channels without having to worry about setting up your own portable satellite dish.

This can be particularly useful for those who are staying on the pitch for an extended period of time or who rely on access to TV for important news and weather updates.

However, it’s important to note that not all fully serviced pitches will offer this feature, so it’s worth checking before booking if this extra space is something that is important to you.

What About Electrical Connection On A Fully Serviced Pitch?

Standard pitches have electrical connection

When it comes to electrical connections on caravan pitches, there can be a whole range of significant difference between the available options for electricity supply.

Some caravan sites reserve their most powerful electrical connections for their best pitches, offering up to 16 amps instead of the generally more common 6 amps.

This can be particularly important for caravaners who rely heavily on electrical power, such as those with large motorhomes or those who plan to use a lot of electrical appliances during their stay.

With a more powerful electrical connection, you can be sure that you’ll have enough power to run all of your appliances without any risk of overloading the system or tripping the electrics.

However, it’s important to note that not all sites will offer this level of electrical connection, so it’s worth checking before booking to ensure that you have access to the power you need.

Fully Serviced Pitches Have Some Of The Best Locations On The Caravan Park

Fully serviced pitches are popular due to larger size and increased privacy.

These premium pitches are often in prime locations on the caravan park, away from high traffic areas, and offer ample space for larger caravans or motorhomes.

They provide a comfortable and relaxed outdoor experience with access to water supply, electricity supply and grey water drain.

Is A Superpitch The Same As A Fully Serviced Pitch?

The term “superpitch” may refer to what is a fully serviced pitch, but not all caravan parks have the same definition for these terms.

Some parks may offer extra amenities like a hardstanding area, picnic bench or BBQ stand on their superpitches.

When booking, it’s important to confirm with the specific caravan site what amenities are included.

Check their fully serviced standard pitch or superpitch as each park may have unique offerings.

Can Anyone Book A Fully Serviced Pitch?

Fully serviced pitches on caravan sites offer all necessary amenities for a comfortable stay and can be booked by anyone, regardless of caravan age.

These pitches are in high demand during peak holiday periods, so it’s recommended to book well in advance to secure your desired pitch and avoid disappointment.
